Miss Twinkleton’s School for Sensitive Boys presents The Nutcracker Men in Tights
7 men and gay men’s chorus/ensemble
Ms. Twinkleton, a stern headmistress of an all-boys school and a former ballet sensation, hasn’t landed a role in a long, long while. Hoping to change her fortunes, a group of her students partner with the neighboring girls’ academy to present The Nutcracker for the holidays—a vehicle engineered for “Ms. T’s triumphant return to the stage.” But when their plan falls apart, the show must go on with a campy twist.
Inspired by two renowned, titular songs written for gay men’s choruses, this heartwarming story is a festive romp in search of the personal meanings of the holiday season.

Two years later, the boys at Ms. Twinkleton’s School are at it once again—this time presenting Hello Dolly!, starring Ms. T herself. However, disillusioned with life, she locks herself in her bedroom to end it all. The Angel of Death, Cher, is ready to cart her off when four Greek muses intervene, taking Ms. T on a journey through one hundred years of Miami Beach’s history to restore her zeal for life. But not everyone has her best interests at heart, and the future of the city hangs in the balance of Ms. T’s willingness to go on.
The work was commissioned by the Miami Gay Men’s Chorus with support from the City of Miami Beach to celebrate the city’s 100th anniversary.
